Journalists march against detention, assault during protests over electoral rolls

Journalists silently marched around the Press Club of India to protest the recent detention and assault of reporters. The protests were triggered by alleged electoral manipulation involving chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Several journalists reported being heckled and threatened by security personnel despite showing valid press IDs. Veteran journalist Sreenivasan Jain suggested that the regime feels threatened by independent journalists.
