Restoration efforts in South San Diego Bay converted former salt ponds into functional tidal wetlands. Wildlife has shown significant recovery with 80 species of birds, 22 species of fish, and 10 species of invertebrates observed. The project aimed to restore natural tidal flows and enhance habitat diversity. Native plants began emerging quickly after the restoration, indicating ecological recovery.
