New Delhi: Strong demand from the US, UK, South Korea China and Indonesia aided India’s engineering goods exports to grow 25% on-year in August, continuing the growth momentum for the fifth straight month in the current fiscal, industry body EEPC India said Friday.Engineering exports increased 24.86% on-year in August to $12.32 billion of which shipments to the US rose 31% to $2.2 billion, and to China were $424.65 million, up 75%.“The engineering exports sector’s performance in the recent months, despite key trade route disruptions and geopolitical tensions, reflects growing confidence of the global market in Brand India,” said Pankaj Chadha, Chairman, EEPC India.Also read | India left more exposed to Trump's 100% oil threat as China gets tariff breatherEngineering exports to the UK increased 28.6%, more than doubled to South Korea, grew 182% to Indonesia and nearly quadrupled to $198 million to Oman. India–Oman free trade agreement came into force in June this year, boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.“Overall, the August 2026 upturn suggests that global demand conditions are becoming more supportive for India’s engineering exporters, reinforcing the need to consolidate market presence, diversify destinations and strengthen supply-chain resilience,” Chadha added.As per EEPC, in August, India’s engineering exports grew in almost all top 25 destinations, except the UAE and Saudi Arabia, mainly due to logistics disruptions from the West Asia crisis. India’s exports to both these countries have indicated volatility in the last few months.Also read | Mexico, Brazil, UK see rising medical device imports, opening export opportunities for India: ReportIn August 2026, as many as 31 out of 34 engineering panels witnessed positive year-on-year growth, it said.“In the first five months of the current fiscal, as many as 30 out of 34 engineering panels recorded growth, while the remaining four engineering panels, including Products of Iron and Steel, Lead and products, Machine Tools and Office Equipment, recorded negative growth,” it said.On a cumulative basis, engineering exports during April-August 2026-27 were $58.7 billion, up from $49.1 billion in the same period last fiscal, registering growth of 19.55%.
