Iran issues new threat against Gulf oil trade

Iran's parliamentary speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf warned that no country in the region would be able to export crude oil if the Islamic Republic was prevented from selling its own oil, state media reported on Tuesday.He warned the US and other countries over the Strait of Hormuz, saying that if Iran’s security is not ensured, “no infrastructure will be safe”.“Both Americans and other countries should know: As we said before, in a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil, and if our security is not ensured, no infrastructure will be safe,” Ghalibaf said.Also read: Iran's Revolutionary Guards call Trump a 'big liar'Speaking during a public video conference, he referred to recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the passage of ships through it.Reacting to the remarks, Ghalibaf said they were a repetition of previous claims and that their nature was known to everyone.“The delusional US president recently made rhetoric about the Strait of Hormuz and the passage of ships through it that is a repetition of previous claims, and the truth of these delusional positions is known to everyone,” he added.Trump is a 'big liar'Ghalibaf's remarks came soon after Iran's Revolutionary Guards' spokesperson called Trump a "big liar", citing the US president's statements on nuclear weapons and other issues."The American people need to be told the truth," Hossein Mohebbi said, adding that the US had failed in its military campaign against Iran and should leave the region.
