Donation platform collapsed owing 3,200 nonprofits nearly $29 million

Flipcause, an Oakland-based donation platform, filed for bankruptcy in December 2025 after owing nearly $29 million to more than 3,200 nonprofits. Bankruptcy records showed the company paid $3.8 million to executives, relatives and related firms in the year before filing. Nonprofits later questioned Flipcause leadership over delayed donations and how company funds were managed.
